Tambon blogspot - website review

Thailand has a complex system of administrative divisions. Getting information about these divisions can be very difficult, and especially so if you are not good at reading Thai. Fortunately, http://tambon.blogspot.com/ maintains an excellent blog in English for anyone interested in learning more about Thailand and its administrative areas.

The blog contains content that would otherwise be difficult to find, and is updated on a regular basis and presented in an easy to read format. Among other things, it includes information on

  • provinces, or "changwat"
  • special administrative areas
  • districts, or "khet" (within Bangkok) or "amphoe" (outside Bangkok)
  • municipal areas, or "tesaban"
  • subdistricts, or "kwaeng" (within Bangkok) or "tambon" (outside Bangkok)
  • villages, or "moo ban"

If you need information about Thailand, it's definitely worth a read.

Thanks for the praise

You make me blush with your praise, I am just humbly trying to make sense of this complicated topic, and happen to find more and more topics while researching on small item. When I started the blog I never expected it to see almost daily postings, and currently I even have more topics to post than days, originally I thought I will run out of topics after a few months. At least I don't need to worry about search engine optimization and such things since I am and probably will be for quite some time the only blogger on these exclusive topics, so anyone searching for Thai administrative subdivision will quickly be directed to my blog.

Still the best site

Since I wrote this article, Andy (MaewNam) the owner of http://tambon.blogspot.com/ has put a lot more work into his blog and also provided some great contributions in the form of comments to Bangkok Library website. It frequently amazes me just how much he knows about subdivisions of Thailand, and his blog is definitely worth bookmarking. To keep up with his busy website you can subscribe to this RSS feed or follow him on Twitter.
