Benjakiti Park (Thai: สวนเบญจกิติ) is a public park in Bangkok, Thailand. A former factory site of the Thailand Tobacco Monopoly, the park first opened in 2004. It has an area of approximately 130 Rai (1 Rai = 1,600 sq. m.) or 20.8 hectares and is dominated by a central lake around which a footpath and separate cycle path follow. Surrounding gardens are landscaped and maintained to a high standard, and this could rightly be described as a very attractive park.
Cycling is a very popular activity at Benjakiti. You can bring your own bicycle or hire one in the park, but one point worth noting is that pedestrians and cyclists should be wary of each other at all times. There are several accident blackspots in the park where pedestrians unwittingly cross the cycle path. In particular, be careful near entry and exit points to the park. You have been warned!
Perhaps the best time to visit is during the early evening when lights and reflections on the lake's surface from nearby skyscraper buildings are the most attractive. Pedalo and more traditional rowing boats are available for hire until dusk. The park opens at 5.00 AM and closes at around 8.00 PM.
The park has two major entrance gates. The main gate and car park is located just ten minutes walk from the Asok / Sukhumvit Road junction, which you can easily reach by BTS skytrain (Asok station) or MRT subway (Sukhumvit station). Alternatively, you can enter from the the far side of the park, close to the Queen Sirikit Convention Center which is served by its own MRT station.
