Kinokuniya is a Japanese owned bookstore chain that stocks an impressive range of books in some of the best shopping malls in Bangkok. All branches carry a wide range of books in English and Asian languages, but the best stocked and most attractive store is located at Siam Paragon.

All tastes are catered for. For Thai readers there is a good choice of comic books and graphic novels, hobby books, cookery books, and popular fiction translated into Thai. For foreign visitors, there is an excellent choice of novels and text books that you might find in any US or UK bookstore.

Pantip Plaza Pratunam

Pantip Plaza Pratunam (Thai: ศูนย์การค้าพันธุ์ทิพย์ พลาซ่า สาขาประตูน้ำ) is the largest IT and technology shopping mall in Bangkok, Thailand. In addition to selling an extensive range of computer hardware and accessories, it is somewhat notorious for openly selling counterfeit software, music and DVD movies for around 100 - 200 baht per DVD.

Pantip Plaza Pratunam - Ground Floor

Platinum Fashion Mall

The Platinum Fashion Mall is a retail and wholesale shopping mall in Pratunam, Bangkok, Thailand. Occupying six floors, the mall sells mostly budget clothing and accessories for women, with a considerably smaller choice for men. An eleven-storey condominium building stands above the retail complex.

Fortune Town

Fortune Town (Thai: ศูนย์การค้าฟอร์จูนทาวน์) is a shopping complex on Ratchadapisek Road, just north of Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok. The center includes the IT Mall, a popular alternative to Pantip Plaza.

The Reading Room (art library)

The Reading Room is a privately-owned contemporary art library located on Charoen Krung Road in a three-story shop house, not far from BTS Sapan Taksin. The library is run as a non-profit organization open to the public free of charge.

Although we haven't yet had a chance to visit the library ourselves, we have been in contact with its owner and it seems very promising. The Reading Room houses a collection of more than 1,000 items relating to contemporary Thai art and art reference books from all over the world, including art history and theory books, monographs, exhibition catalogues, art magazines, and electronic resource.

Chamchuri Square

Chamchuri Square (Thai: จัตุรัสจามจุรี) (pronounced: jaam-ju-ree) is a high rise building complex located in Bangkok, Thailand. It comprises a commercial office tower with forty floors, a residential tower, and a podium building that connects the two main towers. Owned by the nearby Chulalongkorn University, construction of the complex was completed in 2008.
