Seh Daeng pronounced dead

Maj. Gen. Khatiya Sawasdipol, widely known as Seh Daeng, was pronounced dead at 9.20 am on May 17, 2010. The army specialist who defied the government by providing tactical training and support to red shirt anti-government protesters, was admitted to hospital late Thursday night after being shot in the head.

Rogue Thai General Khattiya Sawatdiphol, better known as Seh Daeng, has been shot in the head and critically injured. The general has been frequently criticized by Thai Prime Minister Abhisit for his involvement with anti-government red shirt protesters and was said to have trained red shirt protesters for armed struggle against government forces. The general was popular with many red shirt protesters who have felt disenfranchised by the government and the so-called "elite" within Thailand.
