Koh Pha-ngan tourist speedboats collide and overturn: 40 injured and 2 missing

Two speedboats carrying Thai and foreign tourists to a beach party collided on Saturday at around midnight. Media reports suggest that between 39 and 42 people were injured with another two people missing.

The website of The Nation newspaper reports the two boats collided and overturned, throwing passengers into rough seas just off the island.

The speedboats were ferrying passengers in the Gulf of Thailand to Koh Pha-ngan (Pha-ngan Island), especially popular with mostly young western tourists for its drink and drunk fueled “full moon” parties.
