Neilson Hays Library

The Neilson Hays Library (Thai: ห้องสมุดเนียลสันเฮส์) is located on Surawong Road, opposite the TOT office building. Apart from the neighboring British Club, there aren’t many nearby attractions, but it is easy to reach by taxi and is just 20 minutes walk from BTS Surasak station.

The library has a good selection of over 20,000 fiction and non-fiction titles available to its 600 members. The library operates a lending and reference service, the latter being available to non-members for a small and very reasonable fee.

The Neilson Hays Library – one of the oldest libraries in Thailand – is full of character with its interesting architecture and books held in traditional glass-fronted cabinets. Despite its old-world appeal, there are many interesting books, both old and new, that make the Neilson Hays Library worthy of regular visits and of popular appeal to the expat community.

The children’s corner and café adjoining the library make the Neilson Hays Library especially suitable for family outings. There’s also a small gallery for those interested in local artists.

A wonderful library

This has to be my favorite library in Bangkok. It's full of character and has many great books. I read some comments on another website about the books being old, but there's nothing wrong with old books that are still worth reading. Anyway, it has many new titles, too. All in all, a great library.

Neilson Hays Library is full of character

Neilson Hay Library looks like a lovely place to visit - I adore these places that manage to retain their character. I meant to join the library last year, but never quite got around to doing so. I'm definitely going to pay it a visit very soon.

By the way, nice web site!
